Welcome to our service today. It is great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for tea and coffee.
I love Chapter 11 of Hebrews – the ‘faith’ chapter! I love how many of the paragraphs start with “By faith Moses did….” or “By faith Abraham did….” or “By faith the walls fell down…..”. It has caused me to think how much of my life I live….”by faith”…..
In Numbers 14 we read how Moses sent 12 men to explore the land of Canaan but how only 2 of them came back with a good report. The others were fearful and afraid. When fear takes over, our perspectives on many things can get distorted. For example our view of God may become skewed. God may seem small in light of our problems, or God’s Word may seem empty in the face of our difficulties. Even our view of ourselves may get cloudy when our faith is weak. Israel said they felt like grasshoppers when in fact they were God’s chosen people.
It’s important to remember who we are in Christ. We are the body of Christ. We are sons and daughters of the King. We are called “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession”. When we know this we can step forward in faith, leaning on God’s promises and power for all He has in store for us.
With love & blessings,
Sandra
