I have a painted stone sitting in my office at home that says ‘God is only a prayer away’. It’s a reminder to me that I don’t have to make an appointment with God. I don’t need to book in or to wait for my turn. He is always available. In fact He is waiting for us to speak with Him 24/7……. so He can speak with us. How often is God my last port of call rather than my first? I’m often a slow learner – I text a friend or talk to someone about a problem rather than going directly to the One who knows all, sees all and will give me the answer that He needs me to hear. I am reminded of the great hymn “What a Friend we have in Jesus” with the words ‘We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer’. Sometimes it’s the easiest and simplest things that are the hardest to learn!
