Welcome to our service today. It’s great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for tea and coffee. If this is your first time at BBC we especially welcome you.
“Rest is a weapon given to us by God. The enemy hates it because he wants you stressed and occupied.” This is from a book I was reading this week. I’d never considered rest as a weapon! But how important it is! In Psalm 23 we read “He let’s me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams.” It’s OK to rest! He says in His Word that He will let us. In fact He instructed us to have a Sabbath day in order to rest – following His example that we read in Genesis “on the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested”.
What does rest look like for you? For me it’s a combination of things including sleep, sitting still, reading, listening to worship music, pottering in the kitchen (because I want to!) watching my children play football and a few other things. But I don’t always get the balance of ‘busyness’ and ‘rest’ in the right proportion. However I don’t want to give the enemy a foothold so I know it’s important to keep working at rest. Isn’t that ironical?! Let me encourage you in all that you do that in order to keep running the race that God has given us, to make time in your week to rest…..start small if you have to …… But start!
With love & blessings,
Sandra
