Welcome to our service today. It is great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for morning tea.
Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Iron becomes sharper through friction, pressure, and contact. In the same way, God often uses other believers to shape our character, strengthen our faith, and help us grow spiritually. Growth is not always comfortable. Sometimes a trusted friend lovingly corrects us. Other times, we are encouraged by someone who reminds us to keep going when we feel weary. Christian fellowship is one of God’s tools for refining His people. Left alone, we can become dull, discouraged, or spiritually stagnant. But when we walk closely with godly people, we are challenged to pursue Christ more deeply.
Jesus surrounded Himself with disciples, teaching them, correcting them, and encouraging them. The early church also devoted themselves to fellowship, prayer, and building one another up. God never intended us to walk the Christian life alone.
Let’s take time to consider who is sharpening us – and who we are sharpening in return. Are our friendships drawing us closer to Christ? In prayer, let’s ask God to help us be both teachable and encouraging, willing to receive wisdom and willing to strengthen others with grace and truth.
With love & blessings,
Sandra
