Welcome to our service today. It is great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for tea and coffee.
When you think of David in the Bible what do you think of? Is it shepherd, poet, giant-killer, king…… or is it betrayer, liar, adulterer or murderer? The first lists qualities we might all like to have and the second qualities that we might not so much…..though we have all lied at some stage I’m sure! The point is that the Bible makes no effort to hide David’s failures. Yet he is remembered and respected for his heart for God and in fact God refers to David as “a man after my own heart” in Acts 13:22.
David had an unchangeable belief in the faithful and forgiving nature of God. He was a man who lived with great passion. He sinned many times but he was quick to confess his sins. His confessions were from the heart and his repentance genuine. We can learn a lot from David’s life. Although we are sinners this will never separate us from the love of God for “if we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. We don’t have to live under the weight of sin but instead come before God and in sincerity ask for His forgiveness. This is the message of the cross in which we find true freedom.
With love & blessings,
Sandra
