Welcome to our service today. It is great to have you here and we would love to invite you to stay after the service and join us for morning tea.
Advent is a sacred season of expectation. It invites us to slow down, quiet our hearts, and remember that God stepped into our world in the most surprising way – through a humble manger and a tiny child. Yet Advent is more than remembering the first coming of Christ; it is also a season of hopeful anticipation for His return. We live between two arrivals, and in this in-between time, God teaches us how to wait.
Waiting is rarely comfortable. We long for answers, for healing, for restoration, for clarity. But Advent reminds us that God does some of His deepest work in seasons of waiting. The people of Israel waited generations for their Messiah, and when He came, He exceeded every expectation – not by overthrowing earthly powers, but by overturning hearts.
As we pray and prepare room in our busy lives, Advent calls us to notice the quiet ways God is already at work. Hope grows as we lean into His promises. Peace comes as we trust His timing. Joy rises as we remember that God is with us, and love flows as we reflect the heart of Christ to others.
This Advent, may we wait well: with hope, with wonder, and with expectant faith.
With love & blessings,
Sandra
